Our 18th Biennial Meeting

Golden is located about 15 miles (24 km) west of downtown Denver in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Founded in the mid-19th Century by gold miners, Golden City was the first capital of the federally recognized Colorado Territory. Golden is home to the Colorado School of Mines (CSM), which was founded in 1874. CSM is currently ranked as one of the top schools in the U.S. for engineering and geology.

Besides history and culture, Golden offers modern lodging options, high-quality restaurants, and nationally-renowned breweries and museums.

Some of the most important mineral districts in the world are just a short drive away. Among these are molybdenum (Climax, Henderson), and gold (Creede) deposits, and the location of Golden provides easy access to states in the western United States that host world-class deposits of gold, silver, REE, lithium, beryllium, and copper.
